Revised Funding Period (Updated 4/21/14): September 1, 2014 - March 31, 2015
Due to the uncertainty of a no cost extension from NASA, the performance period of the grant has been shortened to end March 31, 2015. If a no cost extension is granted by NASA, we will entertain extension requests to May 31, 2015 from those who have expended at least 60% of the subcontract amount by March 31, 2015.
Higher Education Mini-Grants
NASA is increasingly interested in the development of the future aerospace workforce. The goal of the program is to recruit students to aerospace-related research, especially underrepresented students and females. Higher Education Mini-Grants are available for innovative projects and programs that will recruit or impact students in aerospace-related academic fields at the college or university level. It is the goal of these mini-grants to encourage students to pursue careers in these fields after they graduate, contributing to the scientific workforce.
Mini-grants are not intended to be sustaining funding; rather they are intended to support a project or program for one year, allowing the project or program to grow and obtain more permanent funding elsewhere. Funding for non-NASA or non-aerospace related projects is not supported by the program at this time.
Faculty and staff at participating NASA Nebraska Space Grant college and university affiliates are eligible to apply for Higher Education Mini-Grants. Community and non-profit organizations with an interest in implementing an aerospace or STEM-related project at the college or university level are also eligible to apply.
Applicants may request NASA support in an amount no greater than:
Proposed amounts should be reflective of the scope of the project. It is important to note that not all projects will be funded at the maximum award levels. Selected projects may be funded at lesser amounts based on the ability of applicant to align with the goals of the program, or due to budget cuts.
