NASA Nebraska Space Grant works with Elizabeth City State University on NewSpace Commerce Forum

The Nebraska Space Grant worked closely with Elizabeth City State University (a historically black college) in Elizabeth City, North Carolina along with the North Carolina Aerospace Alliance, and North Carolina's Northeast Commission.

The forum had two goals:

  • Educate state and local government, business, and academic leaders about the economic development potential of the NewSpace industry
  • Develop a "next-steps" strategy for the development of an indigenous NewSpace industry that is integrated with the state's existing aviation- and aerospace-related industry clusters
The keynote speakers included:
  • Beverly Perdue: NC Governor (invited)
  • Dale Carroll: Deputy Secretary, NC Dept. of Commerce
  • Richard Walls: Director of Aviation, NC Dept. of Transportation
  • Jeff Greason: CEO, XCOR Aerospace
  • Bob Richards: CEO, Odyssey Moon and co-Founder, Intl. Space University
