What Is New?
• Due 60 Days Prior to Travel
• Difference Between Space Grant & EPSCoR
• Evaluation Against Stated Objectives
• Restriction on Coordination with Chinese Companies
• No Funding Extensions

What Are the Differences between the Space Grant and EPSCoR Programs?
This single proposal form will be considered for funding under both NASA Space Grant and NASA EPSCoR.  The PI does not apply to the Space Grant or EPSCoR separately.  The Review Committee will decide and determine whether a proposal is better suited for funding from either program. Each program has specific guidelines and limitations that will dictate the Review Board’s decision.

What Are Travel Mini-Grants? The Travel Mini-Grant program was created as an opportunity for Nebraskans to further develop ties to researchers and scientists at NASA field centers, present research findings at a NASA or aerospace related conference, or obtain training in new areas important to NASA.

The Travel Mini-Grant program does not typically fund all expenses for a trip.  Proposals should document what other funding sources will be used to support the travel.  Proposals should highlight how other Nebraskans will benefit from this travel, e.g., teacher training that will result in lesson plan development and sharing.

What is the Funding Period? Travel Grant applications are accepted year round.  Due to the time required to review and approve travel grants, requests with all signed documentation should be in the Space Grant office no later than 60 days prior to travel.

Who Is Eligible to Apply? One application per person.  Faculty, staff, and students at participating NASA Nebraska Space Grant college and university affiliates; educators statewide; and members of community or non-profit organizations are eligible to apply for Travel Mini-Grants.  Applicants must demonstrate how they meet the goals of the program above.

What Are the Funding Limits? Applicants may request NASA support in an amount no more than:

  • $1,500 if the travel is to establish or strengthen a NASA collaboration. This collaboration must be documented in the respective section of this form.

  • $1,000 if the travel is to present research results from a Space Grant-funded project.

  • Applicants applying not related to the above will not be competitive for funding.

Please see the proposal application for submitting instructions and other guidelines.
